         Ekspeditsiooni eesmärk on pelaagiliste kalavarude hüdroakustiline hindamine Läänemere kirdeosas (alampiirkondades 28.2, 29 ja 32). Antud ekspeditsioon on osa rahvusvaheliselt koordineeritavast Läänemere pelaagiliste kalavarude hüdroakustilise hindamise kevadisest ekspeditsioonist ja tööd toimuvad vastavalt Rahvusvahelise Mereuurimisnõukogu Läänemere Kalauurimistöörühma soovitatud metoodikale (ICES 2000. Manual for the Baltic International Acustic Survey (BIAS) version 0.72, 34 p.).

         Uurimistööde programm ja renditava uurimislaeva tehniline kirjeldus on esitatud hankedokumendi lisas 1.

         Ekspeditsiooni periood on 26. mai – 31. mai 2018 - kokku 4 tööpäeva merel ja sisaldab ka aega, kui laev sõidab Ventspilsi sadamast ekspeditsiooni tööpiirkonda ja ekspeditsiooni lõpp-punktist Ventspilsi sadamast kodusadamasse.
